289 – Rope

The Dudes learn to choose their words carefully, lest their pupils become Fascists with 1948’s Rope.  One of Alfred Hitchcock’s many classics, this claustrophobic thriller is a mystery for the characters instead of the viewer.  But the suspense is still palpable, because as much as you want Brandon and Phillip to be caught, you can’t help but feel tension as the clues pile up.  And if you decide to study Nietzsche, please know going in that his ideas are sick and wrong.
